Cessna 172 VH-RPJ was operated briefly by Henebery Aviation before acquiring VH-EIZ. The aircraft is depicted in the markings of Southern Cross Air Services at Wollongong, NSW in September 1976.

CALOUNDRA AERODROME
WHEN THERE WAS ONLY HENEBERY

One of the services advertised on the Henebery hangar was "Aerial Photos". What follows is a series of aerial photographs of Caloundra Aerodrome taken from Henebery aircraft. This view is looking to the south down Runway 23 with intersecting Runway 12/30 in the background. The road to the right of and parallel with Runway 23 is today Pathfinder Drive. Caloundra Road is in the foreground. What is particularly noteworthy about these photographs is the total lack of any other development around the aerodrome. (Picture: Henebery Collection)

For comparison purposes, this view of Caloundra Aerodrome was taken in July 2014. The original Henebery hangar still stands although the roof has taken on the patina of the years!(Picture: Nick Sayer)

 

When Henebery commenced operations from Caloundra, drainage was always a problem. At times aircraft could not leave the runway so passengers were ferried to and from the terminal in cars, which often became bogged! Henebery's first Partenavia was delivered in July 1978 and even then passengers were required to 'walk the plank' to gain access to the terminal after prolonged rain.
