THIS IS WHYThis view of the extensive exfoliation corrosion on the wings of C-47 N2271C demonstrates why RAAF Heritage took the difficult decision to scrap the aeroplane. As the aircraft had no provenance to the RAAF and was deemed as unsafe and beyond economical repair it was decided to part out the aircraft so as to save as much as possible. The RAAF went to great lengths to place suitable display items with other museums.Picture: Nick Sayer QUEENSLAND AIR MUSEUM www.qam.com.au |
