Zapped!Nose art on Mirages was rare. This is Mirage IIIO A3-16 The Road Runner in October 1965 when it was the personal aircraft of Wing Commander Cedric Thomas, C.O. of No 75 Squadron. Note the WGCDR pennant next to the nose art. On this occasion the cockpit is occupied by FLTLT Dick Moore. Note the zap marking from the 6441 Tactical Fighter Wing which had deployed six F-105 Thunderchiefs from their base at Yokota, Japan to Williamtown for Operation Pacific Concord One.Picture: Ian Whisker QUEENSLAND AIR MUSEUM www.qam.com.au |
