Air Chief Marshal Sir Angus Houston in the cockpit of Bell UH-1H Iroquois A2-310 at QAM on 16 August 2024. Sir Angus flew A2-310 on several occasions during his Air Force career and he was able to nimbly climb into the aircraft and his "muscle memory" automatically directed his hands and feet to all the correct controls. The Operations Record Book of No 9 Squadron RAAF records that on 26 April 1983, A2-310 surveyed an area 10 miles north of Oakey Airfield for suitable landing sites and access roads for the squadron field deployment Exercise Tiger Cat. The aircraft returned to Amberley after refuelling at Oakey. Crew: SQNLDR A.G. Houston, PLTOFF P.J. Clements, SGT P.D. Deane & LAC D. Zilic.
